Formed by Sandro Nogueira and Felippe Oliveira, Duo Manolera has been developing, since 2012, a research practice dedicated to Brazilian guitar, instrumental music, jazz, and improvisation. The partnership brings together two musical paths built across different contexts and countries, centered on interaction between the musicians, creative freedom, and real-time musical creation.

In 2016, the duo released the album Artefato Manufaturado. After more than a decade of research, performances, and musical development, Sandro and Felippe now present Violão Brasileiro – Chapter 1: Café na Mesa, a work that expands their exploration of the possibilities of Brazilian guitar in dialogue with improvisation and different languages of instrumental music.

Café na Mesa (2026)

Sandro Nogueira is a guitarist, instrumentalist, composer, and improvisation researcher with more than two decades of professional experience. His career includes original projects such as SN Trio, SN 5TET, and SN Lab, as well as his participation, since 2018, in Quinteto ZEN, led by drummer Zé Eduardo Nazário. His musical language brings together Brazilian instrumental music, jazz, blues, and improvisation, with a strong emphasis on interaction and musical creation.

Felippe Oliveira is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator working between Brazil and the United Kingdom. A guitarist, bassist, pianist, and drummer, he develops original work connected to Brazilian jazz, instrumental music, and improvisation. His international career includes performances at the Royal Albert Hall, PizzaExpress Jazz Club, Green Note, and Baku Jazz Festival, as well as projects in Italy, Estonia, Wales, Argentina, and Uruguay.

Café na Mesa is the new album by Duo Manolera, featuring eight original compositions selected from years of study, research, performances, and musical development. The album establishes a dialogue between different schools and traditions of Brazilian guitar, instrumental composition, and the language of jazz improvisation. Throughout the repertoire, the two guitars exchange roles, creating counterpoint, harmonies, textures, and constantly evolving musical dialogues. More than a collection of compositions, the album captures the identity developed by Sandro Nogueira and Felippe Oliveira over more than a decade of partnership. The work combines compositional rigor with interpretive freedom, bringing together diverse influences to create a distinctive language marked by harmonic, rhythmic, and melodic richness and by the interaction between the two musicians. Café na Mesa opens a new recording chapter for Duo Manolera and reaffirms Brazilian guitar as a territory for research, creation, and dialogue with contemporary music.
